2018 Smith Trophy
A rather drizzly day did not deter members for once again competing in this one day knock-out competition.
All were keen to lay their hands on the trophy
With the whole green now in use after last season's repairs the day got off to a busy start.
Each round consisted of 10 ends.
Those knocked out in the first round went on to compete for the plate.
'Wets' (white rainproof jacket and trousers were the order of the day, but did not reduce the competitive spirit.
One young man still hung onto the idea that in summer he wears shorts!
Competition secretary Tony took the opportunity to get other knocked out players to help with the draw for the club competitions
Sylvie and others prepared a wonderful 'high tea'
Bowling is hungry work and everyone tucked in. The hot drinks going down a treat!
Our little clubhouse may only have a 'veranda' but it is cosy and sociable on a day like this
Captain Ron marked the final of the plate - a close game between President Jill and Jeanette
Rob and Tim fought it out in the main final but Tim could not find his cracking form of previous rounds.
President Jill was runner-up in the plate competition....
which was won by Jeanette
Tim was runner-up in the main event after putting out last year's winner David...
But it was Rob who played a strong game in the final to take the trophy
