Annual pilgrimage to New Romney

The coach was waiting for the members outside The Bridge Club at Lower Sydenham. If it had picked up at Hilly Fields it would have coast a lot more as the club is inside the Ultra Low Emissions Zone.
.
Joining the usual suspects from FDBC were players from Sydenham Indoor Bowls representing some nine other clubs – Ladywell, Queensmead, Petts Wood, Woodcroft, Langley, Westerham, South Hill Wood, Gonville and Forest Hill.

The all-day trip included fish and chips at the usual restaurant in Dymchurch on the way.

New Romney Bowls Club has two types of rinks – one grass and one all-weather.

There were six triples played on grass and six rinks on the all-weather area.

Captain Ron Phillips who worked on the complicated fixtures says he tried to work FDBC and Sydenham indoor players into each of the games.

It seems to have worked out well because FDBC and Sydenham indoors won the match by 29 points.

Two of our new recruits, Maz and Fred, made their competitive debut at the fixture.

Oh! And Keith took THESE photographs.
