Francis Drake Bowls Club |
The weather might have been overcast but the enthusiasm of the competitors shone brightly on everyone.
Eight teams from the local area came together for the Francis Chappell and Sons one-day Open Triples Tournament held at FDBC for the sixth year.
The eight teams taking part were: Forest Hill; Southwark Park; South Hill Wood; Pleasaunce; Dulwich Park; Langley; Ladywell and, of course, Francis Drake.
Each club played five games, three in the morning and two in the afternoon, against different opponents each time. Each game was 40 minutes long. There was a three-way tie for the final, so shot difference was taken into account.
Runners-up were Langley. Here with Francis Chappell's Emma Sparre-Slater who presented the trophies are Janet Noakes, Eileen Chappell and Mick Berry.
Smiles all round for Dulwich Park's team, Tom Weller, Alan Bioletti and Tony Bioletti, who won the day.
A special Newsletter is available with a full report, many photographs and a link to an album of nearly eighty photos of the day.
