Francis Drake Bowls Club |
Sunday afternoon saw a rather different game of bowls at Francis Drake - a FUN-SKILLS day was put together by Ron and Jeanette. Five rinks were laid out with eight different 'challenges' to test the ability of the 22 members and friends attending. Challenges included 'Noughts and Crosses',, 'ditching the ducks' and delivering the jack to a specified area to gain maximum points. All challenges were designed to mimic situations which could occur in the true game of bowls and points were awarded for achievement. Players competed in teams of 2 or 3 and the winning team were Frances, Maria and Rob - well done to them.
Due to the heat only 10-12 ends were played before retiring to the shade to enjoy a scrumptious high tea - the result of everyone bringing a plate to share - and a chance to catch up with one another.
We are grateful to Sebastian Roche Estate Agents for their sponsorship to cover the replacement of our banner, which was stolen from the fence, and to Joe for mounting this on scaffolding which makes it much more visible.
